Celebrating the Resurrection and the Life

Greetings RezDowntowners,

What a beautiful day it is! I was fortunate enough to wake up before the sunrise and join up with a whole bunch of Resurrection men for an early morning Prayer Breakfast at the National WWI Museum and Memorial. I can't think of a better way to begin this holy day than with prayer overlooking the city.

Today is Good Friday and as I type Jesus would have been approaching his last breath after hours worth of pain and agony. On Good Friday, God reveals the depth of his love for us through the sacrificial love of Jesus.

This is what we focused on in last's night's Holy Week Tenebrae Service. I hope you were able to watch it last night as we reflected on and remembered the events of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, and the final hours of Jesus's life before he made the ultimate sacrifice. If you didn't catch it last night, you can still view it all day today on demand at cor.org/live (or, it was shared on our Facebook page as well). I hope you'll take 45 minutes to watch it and worship!

Vacation Bible Camp is coming this July!!!

Registration for Vacation Bible Camp this summer is now open for preschoolers – 5th graders. This is one of my favorite weeks of the year. I hope you'll consider joining us in person or at home for this year's amazing weeklong Bible Camp, called the Great Adventure! When you sign up you’ll get an awesome kit and the opportunity to experience VBC in a number of ways from outdoor family events, to Zoom calls, to at home activities, and some in person gatherings at a Resurrection campus, but you’ll get to pick how your kids experience VBC this summer.

If you are outside the KC area we will ship your kit to you! The link to learn more and register is at cor.org/vbc.

Upcoming Classes

We have some great programming coming up after Easter. Get plugged in to one of these upcoming classes!

Let's Show Up (Late-Night Parenting Class)

This past year has been hard and our lives look a lot different than before. How we relate to our kids and our families has changed. How we do church has changed. Life has changed.

Join your KiDSCOR Directors from all campuses, along with Rezlife’s Blake Thomas, Rev. Tiffany Baker, Pastor Anne & Eric Williams, to talk about how we can show up for our families no matter what age or stage we’re in. Wednesdays, April 7 - 21 via Zoom at 8:30 pm. Register here!

Spring Cleaning: Head, Heart & Home

Starting Monday, April 12 at 7 pm, join Pastor Anne Williams, Pastor Matt Bisel and Shannon Starek for a 3-week discussion based class, Spring Cleaning: Head, Heart & Home. This is the time of year when we often get the desire to toss out the old, reorganize what we have, and find new ways forward. Join us for this HYBRID class at 1601 Grand Blvd., KCMO, or online. Learn more and register for the class here. If you have any questions, please email Shannon.Starek@cor.org.

This will be another unique Easter weekend, and even though we'll be in person, we won't be at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts like we're accustomed to. With that said, we will be hosting our first ever Easter Worship service in our sanctuary space at 1601 Grand. It will be an amazing experience!

For those of you who join us it will be great to see you smiling in your masks, and for those who join us online or on TV, please know that I will be with you in Spirit as well as you worship at home. Happy Easter and God bless you this weekend as we look forward to celebrating the resurrection and the life! It is such a privilege to be your pastor!

With Grace, Peace and God's Holy Adventure,

Scott
