Resurrection West,

It’s going to be an amazing Sunday as we bring forth our financial commitments cards for 2020, gift over 70 third graders their Bibles, confirm 50 students in faith, celebrate our veterans, welcome 30 new members, and continue in our series on Contentment, Generosity, and Joy!

If you are a member of our church, you received a letter this week asking you to prayerfully consider your giving for 2020 and to bring your commitment card forward in worship this Sunday. At all services we will conclude with standing to sing and bring forth our commitments. We do this every year and your presence is critical as we pray and plan for 2020. This includes costs such as utilities and salaries, but also dreams and visions in the area of missions, vision 2030, and raising up a generation of Christ-followers in KiDSCOR and rezlife student ministries.

We will have cards available in the bulletins on Sunday and if you will be out of town and can’t make it to worship, please go online now and complete your card at cor.org/west/commitment. At the end of every service, we will also have the 2020 mugs available and every card receives a mug as a thank you for your commitment!

I want to celebrate that we just had our third best blood drive ever with 91 donors responding to the community Blood Center’s urgent request to donate. This year represents a 50% increase over the 255 pints of blood donated here at Resurrection West in 2018!

I also want to celebrate that we will hold our Confirmation worship service this Sunday afternoon at 2 pm in the Sanctuary, where we will confirm 50 students who’ve been together for the past ten weeks leaning what it is to be a follower of Christ. They will be on retreat together tonight and then on Sunday afternoon, along with their families, celebrate in confirming their faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you to the amazing volunteer mentors who have been guiding them in this journey.

I also want to celebrate that I signed, on your behalf, 74 bibles to gift to our third graders this coming Sunday. Wow!!

Welcome our newest members who joined this past Tuesday night at Coffee with the Pastors….

  • Brian & Jenni Doll (Jackson, Jacob, and Jameson)
  • Mike & Sara Ray (Ethan)
  • Ash & Kelly Siebecker (Ash and Evan)
  • Tyler & McKenzie Petrie (Jack and Luke)
  • Bob & Pat Stowers
  • Eric & Megan Lierz (Andrew)
  • Matt Greenlee & Ashley Coffman
  • Alex & Debbie Smith (Odin and Otto)
  • Ryan & Emily Bradbury
  • Kyle and Cassie

Sometimes it’s hard to grasp all that God is doing here. Your generosity, prayers, and commitment to God’s mission and vision is evident all around. I’m just so excited to be a part of it. It feels a bit surreal to know I’ll have the privilege of confirming my oldest daughter on Sunday. Last night Hailey showed me her new dress she plans to wear on Sunday, and all I could think about was how tiny she was when I first held her in my hands 13 years ago - the same year our campus launched. How fortuitous it is as we consider our spiritual growth and God’s call for our future.

Thank you for being a congregation who cares deeply for people to experience a changed life, strengthen the church, and transform the world. This is a vision Scharme and I are proud to invest in, and I know you are too!

With gratitude,

Pastor Jason
