Candlelight Christmas Eve - A Return to Christmas Tradition

Greetings Resurrection West,

Christmas is almost here! I’ve been enjoying my first Advent with West and my first Advent season back in Kansas City in a number of years. It’s been great to sing Christmas songs, drink hot chocolate, and look ahead with expectation to the Love, Joy, Hope, and Peace that Christ brings on Christmas.

This Friday we celebrate the capstone of the Advent Season with our Candlelight Christmas Eve services here at Resurrection West:

1pm Children’s Interactive Service
3pm Christmas Eve service
5pm Christmas Eve service
7pm Christmas Eve with Communion

Each service will have beautiful Christmas music, a message of hope, and the traditional passing of the candlelight while we sing Silent Night. We will have childcare for children 4 and under, and, for every child in our nurseries and worship services, we have a small gift to take home for Christmas. We can still use some additional volunteers at our Christmas Eve Services. Please consider serving as a greeter, usher, nursery or parking lot volunteer. Use the link at cor.org/next to select your location and sign up!
Church of the Resurrection will give away the entire Candlelight Christmas Eve offering, with half supporting our local missions (like backpacks for hunger, partner school ministries, and Afghan refugee resettlement) and half going to international partnerships and projects (support for job training and permaculture in Malawi, partner schools in South Africa, and economic development in Haiti). Your offering makes this and so much more possible! We encourage you to give generously this Christmas Eve as we celebrate the light of Christ and share it with others!

I hope to see you on Christmas Eve – and that you will also join us on December 26, the Sunday after Christmas. I’m excited to preach on the Wise Men. There will only be one service on December 26 – at 9am – as this gives our volunteers and staff a chance to breathe a bit after the rush of Christmas (no nursery, KiDSCOR, or rezlife).

Merry (almost) Christmas!
Pastor Bill
