Offering Hope and Restoration

Resurrection West,

I am in continued prayer for recovery in the Gulf Coast and for those now in the path of Hurricane Irma. My sister and her family are safe and dry in Houston after Harvey, and my parents are well inland in North Florida preparing for Irma.

Growing up in Florida, hurricanes were a regular part of my life and I remember the devastation and destruction caused by Hurricane Andrew about 25 years ago. I remember hearing stories of healing, love, and restoration shared in the days, months, and years following.

One story stuck with me and I’ve shared it in sermons of the past. An 8th grade teacher, leading a mission team of teens from his church, felt God speak and give him an idea to bring healing to the youngest children who were so afraid of the winds after Andrew. He suggested they make kites and fly them with the kids. This exercise was so much more than a craft, but a way to share hope and healing!

We will be sending volunteer mission teams to the areas hard hit by the storms in the months and years to come. I look forward to serving on a team with you that will offer hope and restoration in tangible ways.

Last Sunday Pastor Adam shared inspiring testimony of how people are responding with hope and restoration following Harvey. He will continue preaching in the Simon Peter series this Sunday as we explore Peter's denial of Christ. Each of us, if we’re honest, have had moments of denial, yet God still chooses Peter to build his church upon. Invite a friend to worship with us on Sunday as we gather to give praise, pray for those affected by the storms, and grow together as disciples learning from Peter’s life with Christ!

We worship at 8 am, 9:30 am, 11 am & 5 pm. KiDSCOR Sunday School is available for kids 6 months - 5th grade at all four services, and rezlife Sunday School is available for 6th-8th grade students at 9:30 & 11.

Relationships Beneath the Cross

This weekend is action packed with Saturday morning FaithWork, Upward Sports games beginning, men’s and women’s groups kicking off, Sunday worship, Coffee with the Pastors, Disciple classes, and the Confirmation Journey beginning for our 8th - 12th graders.

Wednesday night I was walking through rezlife youth groups between appointments and snapped this photo of the energy and excitement of our teens as they shared a meal and developed relationships just beneath the cross!

It was a reminder that through the cross we find, even in the terrible act of crucifixion, the redemptive power of Jesus! And through His church we find support. May His resurrection carry us through all that we may face and may we face it together! See you this weekend!
