Share the gift of life!

Resurrection Leawood’s Blood Drive is Monday, Nov. 13, and Tuesday, Nov. 14, 8 am – 8 pm, Narthex. When we keep the blood supplies replenished in Kansas City, the Community Blood Center is able to answer the call for much-needed blood in other areas. Walk-ins welcome or make an appointment here.

Worship

This week in worship... What does it mean to have a grateful heart? How does our own generosity reflect an attitude of gratitude? Pastor Adam begins a 3-week series, "With Grateful Hearts – Rediscovering the Amazing Power of Gratitude." Here's a video you can share to invite others to come worship with grateful hearts!

Serve

Help "Furnish Hope" to those in need

Our Holy Haulers group needs drivers and movers. We generally send out trucks Monday evenings and Saturday mornings. Teenagers are welcome to serve! Contact Michelle Van Pelt for details about Holy Haulers.

Still have leftover Halloween treats?

Bring candy through Nov. 15 to any of the bins located near each door of Leawood Bldg. A. Your donations will be used for special treats at Thanksgiving meals with partner organizations and for Education Ministry partner school incentives.

Serve in FaithWork

Finish out 2017 by serving others! Join us for one of the several FaithWork opportunities throughout November and December. Weekends and weekdays, adults and students… we have something for all ages and schedules. Everyone is welcome and nothing is required except a loving heart and willing hands.

Holiday JOY in Serving opportunities

Stop by the JOY in Serving tables in the Leawood Narthex this weekend.  There will be new bags available to fill and we are still in need of prepared food and nonperishable items for community meals. You can also sign up onlineJOY in Serving... Grace in Giving!

If you have already picked up a project be sure to check your due back date!  All donations can be dropped in the rolling metal bins marked JOY throughout the Leawood Bldg. A Narthex.

  • Do you worship on Saturday nights? Ushers are needed to bring a warm Resurrection welcome to our guestsSign up to serve!
  • Help us offer a warm Resurrection welcome to our first time guests! Grab a coffee mug from the shelves by the Connection Point in Bldg. A and deliver it within 24-48 hours. Tip sheets are on the shelves to help you get started. Sign up for the Mugging Ministry.
  • Matthew's Ministry Family Night Out – Join us for our annual Harvest Ball on Saturday, Nov. 18. Come dressed in your best and be ready to dance the night away! This event is for our participants who are 16 and older only. Volunteers please arrive at 4:30 for training. Sign up to serve here.

Heartland Men's Chorus Concert at Resurrection

Come enjoy the greatest hits by the Heartland Men's Chorus, Friday, Nov. 10, 7:30 pm in the Leawood Sanctuary. All seats are $20 general admission, and tickets are available online at HMCKC.org or by calling 816-931-3338. Heartland Men's Choir Season Subscribers receive complimentary VIP tickets for this concert.

...for the Resurrection Thanksgiving Meal! Join your Resurrection family on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, 11:30 am in the Leawood Student Center. Singles, couples, families that don’t have others to be with for Thanksgiving – all are invited. Pastor Cheryl Jefferson Bell is the host. Space is limited, so register today!

Invitation to a Birthday Party for Jesus!

People of all ages are invited to enjoy birthday cake, fun games, family photo opportunities, party favors and more, Friday, Dec. 1, at 5:45 pm. The evening will be highlighted by the Children's Choir performance of the musical "Jingle Bell Beach" at 7:15 pm in the Sanctuary. The cost for the activities and party is $5 per family. Dinner is available for $5 per person. The musical is free. Registration for dinner is required and encouraged for the Birthday party.

Experience an amazing Christmas Concert 

The Prison Ministry invites you to join us for an awesome concert hosted by  incredibly talented musicians in the Minimum Unit at Lansing Correctional Facility, Wednesday, Dec. 6, 5:30-8 pm, Lansing Correctional Facility. Hear a variety of music styles including some original contemporary Christian. Ages 21+ may register here.

Christmas at Resurrection

Make plans now to attend one of Kansas City’s most cherished holiday traditions. More than 300 musicians, actors, singers and dancers perform in a celebration of Christmas. And this year's production will be the first one in our new Sanctuary! Purchase tickets online for performances Dec. 7-10.

Tuesday Grow Night

Take a class, join a service opportunity or simply enjoy meaningful discussions. Grow Night meets from 6:30-8:30 pm at Resurrection Leawood.

  • EarthCOR – Join the Samaritans class the 2nd Tuesday of each month as we discuss topics of criminal justice, poverty and global migration. Register online and join us in room B211 on Nov. 14.
  • Serve opportunity – All ages welcome to help prepare JOY In Serving bags for our partner schools, Bldg. A Lower Level Mission Space, 6:30-8 pm; childcare available with registration.

Whether new to the church or a long-time Christian, the 3-week Embark course will help you explore the "why" of our church's mission, the "what" of your next steps and the "how" of your participation with God's plan in the world. Advent Study for Women

Joy to the World is loaded with all kinds of Christmas goodness: maps and charts, fun facts and stories about holiday traditions, recipes, prayers and songs. Join in to anticipate and celebrate the coming of Christ. 4-week study begins Nov. 28 at Tuesday Grow Night or Nov. 30 for Thursday morning group.

Financial Peace University helps you make the right decisions with your money so you can accomplish your financial goals. Learn biblical and practical skills for walking in financial peace! The 9-week course launches Tuesday, Jan. 9, 6:30 pm, Leawood C050. Register for class online.

  • Being Mortal – Thursday, Nov. 9, 7 pm, Wesley Chapel. Join us for a viewing of the movie Being Mortal and a discussion with a palliative/hospice care staff member from St. Luke’s focusing on making end-of-life decisions.
  • Communicating Through Conflict: Relationships – Thursday, Nov. 16, 7 pm, B206. Learn how to move through conflicts and strengthen relationships in this class led by Kay McCarthy, a state-certified mediator with extensive training in helping people address conflict. Register online.
  • How to Live Alone (Without Being Lonely) – Thursday, Nov. 16, 7 pm, Wesley Covenant Chapel. Do you live by yourself? Do you ever feel lonely? Learn and share strategies that will help you to feel at peace with your living status.

Hope and Healing Service

Join the Congregational Care team for support and encouragement during the holiday season as we offer Hope and Healing worship servicesThursday, Nov. 30, 5:30 and 7:15 pm, Wesley Chapel. Speakers Betsy Weber and Rich Cray will share how Christ’s love offered them strength and courage during a very challenging season of life. Please know that we are praying for you and hope you will join us as we seek renewal, courage and strength.

RezVets Serves Veterans

RezVets helps to restore, reconcile and re-integrate veterans and their families to a holistic relationship within family and community – including the community of faith. If you or someone you love is an active-duty member of the military, email name(s) to Cheryl Greenough to be added to a prayer list on the church website. (For confidentiality, only first names will be listed). RezVets also offers trained volunteers and counselors to help veterans access specialized care.
