Daily Scripture

Psalm 136:1

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.

Luke 17:11-19

On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten men with skin diseases approached him. Keeping their distance from him, they raised their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, show us mercy!" When Jesus saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." As they left, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw that he had been healed, returned and praised God with a loud voice. He fell on his face at Jesus' feet and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus replied, "Weren't ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? No one returned to praise God except this foreigner?" Then Jesus said to him, "Get up and go. Your faith has healed you."

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Prayer Tip

I have always had a deep respect for those who have served and are serving in our military. These brave men and women are the ones who have protected our freedoms here in the United States and those being oppressed around the world. I am thankful for our veterans and servicemen and women, and praying for them is something I need to make more of a priority.

Lord God,

Thank you for all those who have sacrificed to serve in the military in the past – we are grateful for the freedoms they have preserved.

Thank you for those who are serving in the military now, both domestically and abroad. Through them, we see a reflection of your care and protection for us.

We lift them up to you that they also will receive your care and protection. Shower them with your blessings.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen.
