There are so many different ways people have imagined the crucifixion of Jesus. And his crucifixion raises questions as to its meaning.“Why did Jesus have to die?” “Did God need for Jesus to suffer and die in order to forgive our sins?” “How exactly does the death of Jesus so long ago absolve us of our sins today?” “Is there more to the cross than forgiveness?” Some have simply said, “I believe in the crucifixion, I just don’t fully understand it.”
The crucifixion of Jesus is at the heart of the Christian faith. Over the centuries, various theories of “the atonement” have been developed to explain what Jesus’ death accomplished and how. If you’ve ever had questions about the significance of Jesus’ death, join us as we seek to understand the meaning of the crucifixion.

We invite you to join our team of dedicated volunteers who help create a welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors. Whether you’d like to greet guests with a warm smile, guide people to their seats as an usher, care for our littlest attendees in the nursery, or assist in other areas, your presence makes a difference! No experience is needed—just bring your willingness to serve and perhaps a friend to join you.
Join us for “Christ’s Passion: His Final Hours,” a powerful service that brings together the Last Supper and the journey to the cross. This combined Maundy Thursday and Good Friday service guides us through Jesus’ last night with his disciples, his arrest in Gethsemane, his trial, and his crucifixion. Through scripture, song, and prayer, we will experience the depth of Christ’s love shown in both the blessing of communion and the sacrifice of the cross, as we walk with our Lord through these decisive hours that changed the world.
Service Locations & Times:
Join us for a Prayer Vigil on Good Friday in the Wesley Chapel, a sacred space to remember Christ’s sacrifice. It features drop-in prayer time with ten-minute pastoral reflections at the top of each hour, and it concludes with a special Good Friday liturgy at 3 pm.
Join us online on Good Friday as we hold vigil during the day, remembering Christ’s sacrifice through an intentional video where you will be led in a time of prayer. Click the button below for all the details about the online service.
All men across locations are invited to join us on Friday, April 18 for a Good Friday Men’s Breakfast. We will meet at 6 am at Liberty Memorial.
We provide a daily devotional, called the GPS (Grow, Pray, Study) Guide, 365 days a year, seven days a week. To view past devotionals & subscribe to receive the daily GPS in your email, click the button below.
