Greetings RezDowntowners,

I hope this email finds you well this Friday morning. It has been a great week, on Tuesday our staff team had the chance to head out to the Lake of the Ozarks to stay at a church member's lake house for a couple days to engage in a strategic planning retreat where we focused on a variety of projects coming up in the life of our church. It was a great opportunity to get away and gain some perspective in order to begin dreaming again about what God has in store for our community of faith in the heart of the city!

Then on Thursday I had a chance to visit with several RezDowntowners at the Willow Creak Global Leadership Summit (hosted by Resurrection Leawood). It was so awesome to grow as a leader beside so many church members learning from people like Andy Stanley, Sheryl Sandberg, Bill Hybels and several others.

This weekend in worship we'll be preparing for the upcoming school year by inviting all of our kids, parents, teachers and administrators to join us in worship so that we can pray over you as you prepare for the year ahead. At each worship service I will be heading up to KiDSCOR to spend time with the kids, and I will plan on giving each student a special gift to start out the year and will pray with the kids specifically about their year ahead. Also, at every worship service we'll pause to give thanks for all of our teachers and administrators who carry the responsibility of caring for the future generations in school.

Please be sure to make every effort to join us in worship this weekend. Pastor Adam will be preaching live this weekend about how and why we should read the Bible. It will be a "don't miss" sermon, especially if you know people who have a lot of questions or uncertainty when it comes to how and why we should read Scripture. Be sure to invite them to join you in worship!

Lastly, we're still several school supply bags short in order to be able to outfit our students at Phillips@Attucks Elementary School for the upcoming school year. If you haven't dropped off your bag of supplies yet, please bring them with you to worship this weekend or plan to drop it off with us on Monday between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm. If you have any questions please email Pastor Patrick at patrick.mclaughlin@cor.org.

Church Conference to Approve Loan Modification

All Church members are invited to join us for a vote on a motion to modify our loan covenants in order to increase the borrowing limits for construction projects on Resurrection’s Leawood and Downtown campuses.  On Tuesday, August 22, at 7 pm in the Sanctuary at Building A of Resurrection Leawood, we will have conversation and ultimately vote on our proposed loan modifications. We hope you'll join us.

Have a great Friday! I am excited for this weekend in worship and can't wait to see where God leads us into the future.

Many blessings and God's Peace,

Scott
